AUC sustains its support for peace and development in Mali


Malabo, Equatorial Guinea,  2014: The African Union will sustain its support for peace and development in Mali. The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma reiterated this support during in a meeting with Malian President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita of Mali.

During the meeting, President Keita updated the Chairperson on the situation of peace and security situation in Mali, and ongoing process to bring peace after the May situation in Kidal. He paid homage to regional efforts that obtained a cease fire, and resumed dialogue with the armed group. They also discussed the role of the ECOWAS and the UN.

The AU Chairperson joined President Keita to reiterate total support for the return of peace and development. Dr Dlamini Zuma said though there may be setbacks in any conflict situation, there is the need to sustain the momentum with all critical actors.

The AUC Chairperson and the Malian President met in the sidelines of the 23rd AU Summit of Heads of State and Government, in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.
