CARE International UK (CIUK) is currently recruiting a Support Engineer.  Reporting to the Head of IT, this position is responsible for ensuring the integrity of the Service Desk and IT network within CIUK, five of the European CARE Offices and also Water & Sanitation for the Urban Poor (WSUP).
The Support Engineer is responsible for installing, maintaining and supporting computer communication networks within CARE Offices and another third party organisation (WSUP).  This involves outsourced IT capacity of five European Offices and WSUP and managing the network for an organisation of c.250 people working in Europe and in the developing world.  The Support Engineer’s main goal is to ensure the smooth operation of our communication networks in order to provide maximum performance and availability for users.
The main areas of responsibility will be as follows:
  • Service desk duties and IT support.
  • General networking – basic understanding of Wide Area and Local Area networking.
  • Network Applications – SAN (Dell Equal logic – Preferable, VMware, Veeam Backup, Exchange etc.).
  • Business Continuity (mainly backup of data).
Candidates should be at least MCSE qualified (or equivalent expertise) with significant experience in the implementation and support of Microsoft systems and general networking experience.
