Law change on mental health is right - Ed Miliband

Ed Miliband MP, Leader of the Labour Party, commenting on today's second reading of the Mental Health Discrimination Bill, said:
"This change in the law is right, and Labour supports it. Attitudes towards mental health are changing but we still have further to go to reduce the taboo that surrounds mental health, and this is an important step towards equality.

"These changes will help to bring public understanding and attitudes towards mental health into the 21st Century. They will send a message that discrimination against people with mental ill health has no place in modern Britain.

"If people with experience of mental ill health play a full part in public life, our country will be a better place for it."
