G20 Members on Track with Seoul Commitments

G20 members have complied in full or at least in part with selected commitments made at the 2010 Seoul Summit, according to the G20 Seoul Summit Interim Compliance Report produced by the G20 Research Group, based at the University of Toronto, and the International Organisations Research Institute, based at the National Research University Higher School of Economics in Moscow.

The report tracks G20 members’ progress in meeting their promises from the November 2010 summit until June 2011.

The trend showed a higher compliance average from the G8 members than from the G20-only members. However, because many commitments are multi-year pledges there is significant potential for changes in scores as deadlines pass and policies are drafted so that implementation becomes possible.

Australia scored the highest compliance in the report — the first time a G20-only country has taken the lead.

The G20 Seoul Summit Final Compliance Report will be released on the eve of the 2011 Cannes Summit, which will take place under the French presidency on November 3-4, 2011.
