ETHIOPIA CELEBRATES NEW YEAR

Ethiopia celebrates its New Year tomorrow – 11th September* - and the Embassy would like to wish all our friends and supporters a Happy New Year.

An evening of engagement with the ancient and unfolding history of the homeland of humankind, on the eastern threshold of Africa; the Axumite kingdom, rock-hewn churches, 17th century castles, soaring mountains, the staggering beauty of Rift Valley gorges, astonishing wildlife and the source of the Blue Nile. Talk to be followed by a buffet supper/reception at the nearby Ethiopian Embassy.

Travel writer Philip Marsden will be giving a talk on his love affair with Ethiopia followed by a question and answer session.

The RGS is currently hosting an exhibition of photos of Ethiopia by world-renowned photographer Nick Danziger and there will also be an exhibition of ancient Ethiopian artefacts from the RGS collection on display in the library.
