Delegates and those interested in investing in Kenya gathered at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London for the business roundtable. After the post election crisis earlier this year, Kenya is now back in business ,and according to organisers of the event, is now looking for investment.

Guest of honour at the event was Kenya’s Prime Minister Raila Odinga who outlined how the country was introducing reforms for building economic confidence. "We are fully committed to governance reforms that create a better environment for doing business, minimising government interference in economic activities while encouraging partnerships between government and the private investors we are on the way to having a one stop shop investment centre and instituting a single business licensing for investors, we are also looking at providing an initial tax holidays for and investment beyond certain determinable thresholds, we would like to make Kenya the most investment friendly country in the world."












“We believe that the private sector must be promoted as an engine for more efficient wealth creation in Kenya and our government is therefore concentrating on creating a favourable environment in which the private sector can prosper."said Raila Odinga









Lord Mark Malloch Brown, Foreign and Commonwealth Office Minister: “In six months a lot has changed; we’re seeing not just the pick up in the economy, but some progress in the pick up in legal and property protection, sound macro economic policies. As we've just heard, progress also on stability and on security, and we're seeing the introduction polices specifically designed to boost Kenya's economy such as the provision of free education in primary schools, a goal of the (President) Kibaki government in it's first term, which is now reinforced by the new coalition and a plan to extend this to secondary schools as well because of an acknowledgement that a well educated workforce will give Kenya great comparative advantage."
